ACN.. The American Communications Network apparently sells VOIP services.. but the service or goods they sell, just like Amway, are inconsequential. The service merely offers poor quality thin veneer of respectability over a Pyramid Scheme.. The typical email or call you might get from an acquaintance goes like this actual email:

Given that I’ve had 3 people contact me to talk about this “opportunity” and one person ask my opinion of it I can only assume that the pyramid is now very large and it would be very very difficult for someone to scrape out a living trying to be an ACN reseller.. at least in Adelaide, South Australia.

These obscure maths things really amuse me.. I learnt this awfully useful fact in Podcast 11 of Travels in Mathematics:

Each episode starts with an interesting fact about the episode number.. 11 is of course a palindromic number, with an even number of digits and its also divisible by 11.

The two podcasts (about 1.3hrs long each) on Relativity are absolutely engaging listening.. I think I kinda had an inkling about what Einsteins Theory of Relativity was about.. but these two podcasts in particular have really, really made it clear.. and when it became clear my jaw dropped in amazement at the prescience of Einstein back in the early 1900’s to come up with this stuff.. he must’ve been on some mind-blowing drugs at the time.. because its an astonishingly giant leap forward in our understanding of space, time and mass.

Unfortunately the audio levels on the podcast really suck.. set aside 3 hours in a quiet place to listen to them because its almost impossible to listen to them in a moving car even with ear buds.

The Gubmint when in opposition vociferously argued against mandatory detention of Asylum Seekers.. inhumane, cruel, and harsh were adjectives liberally sprinkled throughout their hyperbole surrounding these centres.

In defending the reopening of one these centres the Gubmint has expressly indicated that women and children will NOT be placed in these centres.. Because wimmin are so much more precious than men I guess? Its OK to throw a Male Asylum seeker into detention but not a Female Asylum Seeker? This is indefensible.
